Wayne Gardner - Biography Wayne Gardner began his woodworking career in 1977 in northeast Connecticut restoring furniture for local antique dealers. His love for furniture design, construction and finish led him to an in depth study of early American furniture. Wayne opened his first shop two years later creating high end reproductions of early New England furniture and restoring period homes for clients in local historical districts. In 1994 he opened a showroom in Newport, Rhode Island was best known for reproducing the works of the masters Goddard and Townsend. Wayne's quest for adventure has brought him to the foothills of Colorado where he now designs and builds custom furniture for discerning clients worldwide. It is interesting to note that Wayne is a direct descendant the Newport, Rhode Island Gardner family, many of whom were furniture makers and contemporaries of the Goddard-Townsends. Building fine furniture must be in his blood! |
